Staff Position Descriptions

Squadron (Corps) Commander:

The Cadet Squadron (Corps) Commander is responsible for:

1. Overall command and control of the Wing, working through the commander's staff and subordinate commanders.

2. The appearance, discipline, training and conduct of the unit.

3. Assisting the instructors in conducting leadership training.

4. Establishing and posting goals to be met by the Wing.

5. Inspecting and evaluating all staff functions.

6. Convening cadet personnel/evaluation boards as required.

7. Administering group activities according to AF principles and procedures.

8. Follow up action on delegated actions from staff meetings.

9. Ensuring all members of the Wing have the opportunity to develop leadership commensurate with their individual abilities.

 

Special Assistant to the Commander:

The Cadet Vice Wing Commander is responsible for:

1. Assuming command of the Wing during the absence of the Wing Commander.

2. Assisting the Cadet Wing Commander as directed.

3. Coordinating the Cadet Wing staff.

4. Presiding over cadet personnel/evaluation boards as required.

5. Establishing special committees and monitoring their progress.

6. Preparing and coordinating agendas for weekly staff meetings with the SASI and/or ASI at least one day prior to meetings.

7. Keeping the Cadet Wing Commander informed of all activities.

8. Tracking staff attendance at Wing staff meetings and recommending corrective action, when required, for excessive absence. 

 

Command Chief Master Sergeant:
 
The Cadet Command Chief Master Sergeant  is responsible for:
 
1. Acting as a liaison between the Wing staff and the general corps of cadets to ensure proper upward and downward flow of information.
 
2. Calling and conducting NCO staff meetings as necessary to ensure proper support is being provided to corps activities and to the Wing Commander.
 
3. Directly supporting the instructors in planning and coordinating leadership and other activities.
 
4. Presiding over cadet personnel/evaluation boards as required.
 
5. Providing written input from staff meetings to the Information Management NCO.
 
6. Keeping the Cadet Vice Wing Commander informed of all activities.

 Academics and Tutoring:

1. Monitoring the academic performance of cadets.

2. Advertising important academic information.

3. Planning and coordinating activities for the Kitty Hawk Air Society.

4. Establishing a file of available tutors to help cadets.

5. Tabulating points for the flight academic award.


Logistics Commander:

The Cadet Logistics Commander is responsible for:

1. The appearance, discipline, effectiveness, training and conduct of the Cadet Logistics Group.

2. Coordinating logistical support.

3. Performing other duties as assigned by the SASI or ASI.

4. Providing written input from staff meetings to the Information Management NCO.

5. Conducting and documenting safety inspections of cadet facilities as required or directed and reporting all safety violations to the Wing Commander.

6. Assisting the ASI with the receipt, issue and accountability of all uniform items, equipment and supplies required for operation of the Cadet Wing.

7. Assisting the ASI with inventories and maintaining cadet supply records in accordance with AFI- 23-101 and CIMS.

8. Organizing and supervising the maintenance, repair and cleaning of cadet facilities, uniforms, supplies and equipment.

9. Advising the Cadet Wing staff on proper supply discipline.

10. Coordinate cadet training on inventories/CIMS with the ASI.

 
Logistics NCOIC:

The Cadet Logistics NCOIC is responsible for:

1. Performing other duties as assigned by the Logistics Commander.

2. Assisting the Logistics Commander with the receipt, issue and accountability of all uniform items, equipment and supplies required for operation of the Cadet Wing.

3. Assisting the Logistics Commander with inventories and maintaining cadet supply records in accordance with AFI- 23-101 and CIMS.

4. Organizing and supervising the maintenance, repair and cleaning of cadet facilities, uniforms, supplies and equipment.

 

 Master of Arms:

 The Cadet Master of Arms is responsible for:

1. The correct storage and issue of all rifles and sabers, including the use of the SO4 form.

2. Organizing and supervising the maintenance, repair and cleaning of weapons, weapon supplies and equipment.

3. Assisting the ASI with the receipt, issue and accountability of all weapons, weapon equipment and supplies as required for operation of the Cadet Wing.

4. Assisting the ASI with inventories and maintaining cadet supply records in accordance with AFI- 23-101 and CIMS.

 Competitive and Noncompetitive Team Commanders:

1. Coordinating all performances/practices with the Corps Commander and ASI/SASI.

2. Identifying primary and alternate team members for performances based on performances during practices.

3. Maintaining an inventory of team's equipment.

4. Ensure team's equipment is in good condition and report any discrepancies to ASI.

5. Command team in all events and competitions.

 

Flight Commanders:

The Cadet Flight Commanders are responsible for:
 
1. Appearance, efficiency and training of the fight and the discipline of flight members during flight drill and in the academic classroom.
 
2. Leading and directing the flight at all unit and flight functions.
 
3. Establishing goals to be met by their flights.
 
4. Keeping the cadet flight personnel files current.
 
5. Providing written input from staff meetings to their respective flights.
 
 
Flight Sergeants:
 
Cadet Flight Sergeants are responsible for:
 
1. Forming cadets for leadership training.
 
2. Preparing the flight for inspection.
 
3. Acting as Flight Commander in the commander's absence.
 
4. Holding all flight cadets to the high standards of personal conduct and discipline required for the flight's success as part of the Cadet Wing.
 
5. Assisting the Flight Commander in keeping the classroom in good appearance.
 
6. Assisting the Flight Commander with the maintenance of all cadet flight records.
 
7. Assist the Flight Commander as required.
